A Refreshing Summer Classic 🍉✨
This Watermelon Salad with Feta & Blueberries isn’t just a summer side dish—it’s a little slice of my heart and heritage on a plate, with a festive twist.
Growing up, watermelon was a must-have in our home. On hot days, we’d gather around with sticky fingers and giant smiles, biting into icy-cold watermelon straight from the fridge. It was one of those simple pleasures that always made summer feel special.
Feta cheese was another staple on our table—creamy, salty, and always packed with flavor. Whether it was crumbled over fresh veggies or eaten on the side with warm bread, it was a daily part of our meals. Back then, I didn’t realize how much those two ingredients—watermelon and feta—would stick with me, both in memory and in the kitchen.
This salad brings those childhood flavors together with a fresh, fun twist: juicy watermelon, salty feta, antioxidant-rich blueberries, a zingy lemon-honey vinaigrette, and fresh mint to brighten every bite.
And this year, I decided to get festive with it… I shaped it into an American flag for the Fourth of July! 🇺🇸
Blueberries made the “stars,” feta and watermelon created the red and white “stripes,” and it turned out so cute and patriotic—a total showstopper at the picnic. Not only did it look beautiful, but it also felt like a perfect blend of cultures and traditions: something old, something new, something from home, and something from here.
If you want to make this flag version too, just layer the watermelon and feta in rows and fill a small corner with blueberries and mint—it’s simple, fun, and guaranteed to get compliments!
